Svět bez lepku: Prague Gluten Free Grocery Stores

Svět bez lepku (Gluten Free World) is a Prague gluten free grocery store that offers a large range of foods for a gluten free diet. The company works with leading Czech and foreign suppliers of gluten free foods. You can find packaged pasta and breads, flour and baking mixes, ready-made meals, all kinds of cookies, biscuits, and more.

FRESH BREAD, ROLLS, AND SWEETS

Packaged gluten free products can be found in many Prague grocery stores. What makes Svět bez lepku attractive is their selection of freshly baked products. The Kocman gluten free bakery supplies them daily. Bread, rolls, pastries including fresh gingerbread, koláče, vánočka, and even traditional, creamy Czech zákusky set this store apart from many others. You can even buy one or two kinds of gluten free Czech dumplings (knedlíky) here. It is best to come before noon to be sure you’ll find the shelves stocked. If you can’t make it until late in the day or if you’d like to reserve specific products (or buy in larger quantities), you can use the reservation system at www.svetbezlepku.cz/e-shop/rezervacni-system/. Send your online order in by 2 p.m. or call it in by 10 a.m. to be able to pick up your order the next day.

You should know: Many of the fresh baked products from Kocman bakery contain deproteinized wheat starch. It is an ingredient that is approved to be safe for celiacs. However, if you’d rather avoid it, ask which products don’t contain it.

CHRISTMAS COOKIES

We usually make our own gluten free Christmas cookies. Alternatively, we buy them from Bezlepková pekárna Liška because they’re delicious and we don’t have to make them. 😉 There’s a third option although we’re not sure if you can count on it. One year, Svět bez lepku was offering several types of gluten free Christmas cookie dough that you could order. We ordered some and then made cookies at home. They turned out very nice.
